The Liebherr family business was created in the year 1949 by Hans Liebherr. The company initially gained fame from its mobile tower crane which was noted for its affordability and ease of assembly. It was upon this creation that the foundation of the company flourished under. Now, Liebherr has grown to become among the world's leading manufacturers of construction machinery. The company has also gained the reputation of being the acknowledged supplier of user-oriented technically innovative services and products in different fields. The company has now become a "Group" working in every continent with more than 130 companies and over 35,000 employees across the world.
To be able to ensure a manageable operating size, the Liebherr Group has been divided into different company units. These units have been designed to operate separately. This set up allows the company the ability to be flexible to market signals and stay in tune with worldwide competition. Moreover, having so many individual company units additionally keeps customer service operating at an optimum level and ensures customer proximity.
Liebherr has instituted the divisional control companies to handle the management operations of sales and production for the individual product segments. The Liebherr Group presently encompasses ten different product divisions.
Liebherr-International AG is the Liebherr Group's holding company. They are situated within Bulle, Switzerland and are totally owned by members of the Liebherr family. At present, the family business is being managed in the 2nd generation by Dr. H.C. Willi Liebherr and his sister Dr. H.C. Isolde Liebherr. Ever since the year 2012, some of the active individual divisions have been represented by family members in the third generation including: Stefanie Wohlfarth, Patricia Ruf, Jan Liebherr and Sophie Albrecht. These members of the family have been working hard together to be able to help set up the family business' course in the future. They are staying on top of residential buildings and large-scale industrial projects across the globe.
Hans Liebherr began to build his company during the year 1949, in a small town known as Kirchdorf within southern Germany. Kirchdorf, currently supports amongst Liebherr's 20 manufacturing locations. They are able to average a yearly output of approximately 2800 wheeled excavators and employ more than 1400 individuals in that specific workforce.
