Forklift Battery Safety

The power to operate electric lift trucks is supplied by big industrial batteries that need to be charged frequently and maintained properly. Safety measures should always be followed while connecting the battery to the charger. It is really important to check battery fluid levels.

The charger should be the same amperage as the battery. It should be turned off when the battery is being plugged in.



Open Flames

Open flames are prohibited in the vicinity of a battery and charging area. Do not permit items like for instance matches or lighters to be used when someone is inspecting the fluid levels in the battery.



Ventilation

The battery charging are also has to be correctly ventilated. The recharging method can cause fumes to be released. These gases are both poisonous and explosive.
