Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial machinery designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is normally located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are typically utilized for jobs which require tasks to be done at heights which exceed other types of lifts. Like for instance, workers could carry out exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but using these lifts rather than having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The bucket of the boom lift usually just holds a single worker. These buckets are better suitable to particular tasks such as electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available with both indoor and outdoor tires and are available in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Underneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machine gets its name. Once the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. As these machines must be positioned directly under the work location, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, offer bigger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a bigger work surface when the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, as they must sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for window installation or cladding, since they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a good choice for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle normally used to lift employees for different tasks performed at heights. Generally, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and controls the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand along with an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for carrying.
Cherry pickers can lift workers up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy supplies and equipment for one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types that can carry out various purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at various tasks and are great for specific applications and accomplishing particular tasks.
